Emo Nite 10/30

Last Tuesday I got to attend my third Emo Nite. I went by myself but met a couple friends there. Let’s just say that this was by far the best Emo Nite I have been to. I had so much energy and I was yelling out the lyrics at the top of my lungs. Typically these days I do not lose my voice at shows, maybe because I am so used to being loud, but that night I did lose it. The energy at the venue was so great and I felt as though I was accepted by everyone there. There were songs that were played that I already love, and as always, I fell in love with even more songs. Overall, being with friends and listening to really great music was what made my night. It was really good to be there last week since I had projects and a midterm all in the same week, so it was nice to have a break of so much fun!

Check out the pictures below, one which was taken by the photographer!

The Killers’ ‘Hot Fuss’

Back in 2004, The Killers released their debut album ‘Hot Fuss’ which included some amazing songs, one which we all know, “Mr. Brightside.” The year of 2004 was pretty great for music. There were releases by U2, The Used, Bowling for Soup, Taking Back Sunday, and many, many more. Songs that came out that year were some big hits. Even songs not in the alternative scene were quite big, no surprise there. But one of the songs that we love, “1985,” came out that year. Pretty awesome, huh? Well let’s actually talk about The Killers’ album now.

‘Hot Fuss’ includes 11 songs and is 45 minutes long. Most songs have little amount of lyrics, but they are spread out and fill the whole song. The album’s sound is similar all throughout. However, at the same time, each song unique on its own. Something that I did not catch were any curse words. That may not matter, but that is somewhat uncommon nowadays. Yes, this album is older, but people still tend to listen to it. I mean, it is amazing. Anyways, songs!

The album starts off with an interesting style with “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine.” The beginning of this song has a good instrumental introduction to it. It is a great start to the whole album. The only thing that I did not like about this song was the ending, only because I am not a fan of songs with long endings with no lyrics. It’s a weird thing, I know. This may also sound strange, but the sound reminds me of something from a movie in outer space. Crazy!

“Mr. Brightside” is next. This song is so popular within this music scene that even Emo Nite plays it. It’s the song we all know and love. You can jump up and down to this song, scream out the lyrics, and it’s even great to sing to for karaoke.

The songs in general are groovy, “vibey,” and alternative. And by “vibey” I mean that you can definitely vibe and chill out to the songs on this album. I realized that “Somebody Told Me” is one that I actually know! I definitely recognized it right when it started. A very good song. My favorite one was “On Top,” though. The chorus is very fun to sing to. If you’re sitting down while listening to this particular one, you will most likely be moving around in your chair.

The longest song on the album is the last one, “Everything Will Be Alright.” A really nice beginning to it, “vibey,” a good way to say “goodbye” to listening to the album (for now, duh).

Overall the album is fantastic! It’s easygoing so you can listen to it when you are trying to be calm, but it does have some edge to it if you need to let out some emotions. You can listen to the album below and then comment what you think of it. I am sure you will not regret checking it out if you haven’t yet – it is an older album. Sit down, take a listen, and move around a bit. Don’t forget to yell out the lyrics to “Mr. Brightside.” You will thank me later.

Asking Alexandria and New Album

Asking Alexandria’s frontman Danny Worsnop posted a message on his Instagram yesterday about his return that occured two years ago. In the message he also mentions on the working of their sixth studio album. Lots of excitement for the fans. Read his post below with a video.

Emo Nite 8/28

Guess what! I finally got to experience Emo Nite again for the second time. I got to go with my best friend, the same person I went to Emo Nite the first time I went. Of course, I wore my SAD AS FUCK shirt I bought the time before. A few songs that were played that I sang at the top of my lungs were “Teenagers,” “Misery Business,” and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.”

Being there that night was so amazing. You get to sing your favorite songs from when you were younger so loud; it’s a great feeling. And for me, doing this with a close friend, made it even more special.

If you have never attended Emo Nite before, you should definitely do so! Usually they are for 21+, but it is so worth the wait. They are going to tour soon with 3OH!3 with special guest Lil Aaron, and you can check out the dates below and get your tickets here.

Tour Announcements

We all have our favorite time of year whether it is a holiday, sports season, vacation time, etc. For me, it is right now when many bands announce that they are going on tour and they release the dates usually at the same time. It has always been the same routine for me every single year since about sophomore year of high school. Summer was great, I got to attend Vans Warped Tour yet again. It is now the end of summer and I am definitely not crying while I reminsce about my day(s) at Warped (yeah right!). I’m getting ready for school to begin once again – I have my new clothes, some of which are new band tees, and supplies – I am ready, but not too excited.

I’m scrolling through my Instagram feed and suddenly see the first of many tour announcements that will be taking place during the week or two. Then there’s another. And another. And yet again, another! I am beyond excited and worried because I really want to go out and see my favorites live but I also need to figure out a way to ask my mom for permission. I’m 22 but she treasts me as if I’m still 14 (it’s all good I guess).

It’s one announcement after another. I see it on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and I also get some bands’ tweets sent to my phone, so everything is blowing up with new upcoming tours! I’m exctied to see bands for the first time or the fourth time – it never gets old.

If you are planning on attending at least one upcoming show, I hope you have so much fun! And if you are not for whatever reason, there is always next time. Concerts are not going away.

Check out some of the tours coming up below!

Sleeping With Sirens Concert

This last Wednesday (8/1) I got to attend Sleeping With Sirens’ Chill Out Summer Acoustic Tour. It was the first acoustic tour I have attended and it was a great first experience. This was about my seventh time seeing this band live. Every time I watch them I fall more and more in love with their music.

Kellin Quinn, lead singer, isn’t one to give too many speeches during a show, but this one he did talk quite a bit. He was funny, sincere, and emotional. I even cried during his “Better Off Dead” talk.

They played new and old songs and together an amazing show was put together. They had three encore songs, their last one being “Kick Me” which they performed in an “electric” way as they called it.

Overall this show was so magical. The stage setup was so cool and beautiful at the same time with the lights. Their stage presence was welcoming, as in you could tell that the band members accepted everyone who was there. If you have never seen Sleeping With Sirens live before, definitely check them out next time they tour. You will not regret it!
